Summary

A sweet and swoony contemporary Young Adult novel about a cross-country family road trip that puts one girl and her childhood best friend on an unexpected road to romance!

Norah hasn’t seen her childhood best friend, Skyler, in years。 When he first moved away, they'd talk all the time, but lately their relationship has been reduced to liking each other’s Instagram posts。 That’s why Norah can’t wait for the joint RV road trip their families have planned for the summer。

But when Skyler finally arrives, he seems。。。like he’d rather be anywhere else。 Hurt and confused, Norah reacts in kind。 Suddenly, her oldest friendship is on the rocks。

An unexpected summer spent driving across the country leads both Norah and Skyler down new roads and to new discoveries。 Before long, they are, once again, seeing each other in a different light。 Can their friendship-turned-rivalry turn into something more?

3。5⭐️This was really cute! Fair warning, I’ve been a Kasie West fan for years and I did receive a free eARC copy of the book from Netgalley, so take my comments with the usual grain of salt。 I was intrigued by this novel for a variety of reasons, starting with the author (a perennial favorite) and ending with the plot for this particular piece (cross country road trip with old best friend/crush has some serious potential for the plot of a teen romance novel)。 West’s signature blend of clean romance, complex character inte Fair warning, I’ve been a Kasie West fan for years and I did receive a free eARC copy of the book from Netgalley, so take my comments with the usual grain of salt。 I was intrigued by this novel for a variety of reasons, starting with the author (a perennial favorite) and ending with the plot for this particular piece (cross country road trip with old best friend/crush has some serious potential for the plot of a teen romance novel)。 West’s signature blend of clean romance, complex character interactions, and real-life problems (that verge into the maudlin less often than some of her contemporaries’ work) helped build the book to a satisfying conclusion (which I shall not spoil for you here)。 This one isn’t going to be for everyone, reader’s who dislike teen romance novels or who are looking for a steamier read may want to look elsewhere。 However, for readers already familiar with West’s body of work or for readers interested in clean teen romance, this may be just the right book for a fun, light summer read。 Enjoy! 。。。more

This was such a cute read! I read it in less than an hour and a half, I couldn't put it down。 The characters were so addicting and I loved reading about all the places they visited。 I did expect the twist, which was a bit annoying。 I loved Paisley。 She was my favorite character, but Skyler is a close second。 I felt that this book was a bit more 'mature' than West's other books。 Maybe that's because of the twist or the fact that I haven't reread any of her other books in awhile, but I really enjo This was such a cute read! This sweet YA book has two families taking an RV road trip through national parks and sights in the west。 Norah and Skylar were best friends who shared everything till Skyler’s family moved half was across the United States。 There hasn’t been any contact between the two for a couple of years。 Their moms are best friends and plan a three week road trip visiting some of my favorite places like Zions National Park, Park City, UT and Yellowstone。 Norah has the added extra stress of stopping in for a This sweet YA book has two families taking an RV road trip through national parks and sights in the west。 Norah and Skylar were best friends who shared everything till Skyler’s family moved half was across the United States。 There hasn’t been any contact between the two for a couple of years。 Their moms are best friends and plan a three week road trip visiting some of my favorite places like Zions National Park, Park City, UT and Yellowstone。 Norah has the added extra stress of stopping in for a college interview at a school she hopes to attend。 Things don’t start smoothly for the two past friends。 Skylar is aloof and then shares a private and embarrassing story about Norah to everyone。 But within the forced proximity of the two RV’s a lot of secrets spill out including feelings。 And the biggest of all is one about one of the moms。This is a gentle book with feelings, misunderstandings, and teasing among siblings。 Along the way Norah and Skylar work out their differences with the help of their art and an old notebook。 This is a true YA book with the main characters about to start their senior year of high school。 Intimacy never goes beyond kissing and this would be appropriate for middle school shelves and up。 The ending happens very quickly and you don’t get to see Skylar’s mother tell her secret to her family, although we know it。 Also I felt the added pressure from Norah’s mom about Skylar didn’t fit。 Otherwise a sweet and enjoyable read。 Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Children’s (Delacorte Press) for an eARC in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced e copy of this book。 I am a big Kasie West fan so I knew I would want to read this book。 I absolutely loved it。 I was immediately sucked into the story and just enjoyed it to the end。 This is a YA story following 17 year old Nora and her family。 Nora's mom has been best friends with Olivia since college so it is only natural that the two families would also become life long friends。 As a child, Nora became close friends with Olivia's son S Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced e copy of this book。 I am a big Kasie West fan so I knew I would want to read this book。 I absolutely loved it。 I was immediately sucked into the story and just enjoyed it to the end。 This is a YA story following 17 year old Nora and her family。 Nora's mom has been best friends with Olivia since college so it is only natural that the two families would also become life long friends。 As a child, Nora became close friends with Olivia's son Skyler。 However, in middle school Olivia moves her family to another state and the families are apart for 4 years。 A road trip is being planned with the two mom's and all the kids。 At first Nora and Skyler are not connecting again, there is some distance between them but over the course of the road trip they begin to see what caused the distance and the two become close again。 If a book has a road trip, I am going be drawn to it。 This one is about friends that become more, so a friends to lovers romance。 Kasie West does a great job of writing about YA characters without bringing in graphic sex scenes and I really appreciate that。 There are a lot of friendships in this book that are tested。 I love that too。 Also, we see the siblings and how they interact with each other and that is great too。 As always, there is a much heavier, hard hitting topic that comes out as well and we see how that is handled between friends and family too。 I loved the characters。 They are very unique and distinct。 It isn't like I am always reading about the same person。 I highly recommend this book。 It will be a great summer read。 It is sweet and funny and emotional at times too。 。。。more

First, thanks to NetGalley for the e-ARC!I will always read a Kasie West book because they're sweet, swoony, and a delightful way to spend a few hours。 This book was no exception, with a super cute slow burn slow romance。This was a solid 4 stars for me, buuuuuuuut。。。while I loved the romance and the family road trip dynamics, the climactic twist didn't work for me。 It was cliche and rushed, as it happened with not nearly enough time to resolve it。 Also a certain's mom's reaction to the situation First, thanks to NetGalley for the e-ARC!I will always read a Kasie West book because they're sweet, swoony, and a delightful way to spend a few hours。 This book was no exception, with a super cute slow burn slow romance。This was a solid 4 stars for me, buuuuuuuut。。。while I loved the romance and the family road trip dynamics, the climactic twist didn't work for me。 It was cliche and rushed, as it happened with not nearly enough time to resolve it。 Also a certain's mom's reaction to the situation was super out of character for her and it didn't fit。Overall this is real cute, but the ending didn't work for me at all。 。。。more

I absolutely adored this sweet YA romance。 Kasie West has a gift for writing age-appropriate, wholesome love stories for tweens。 Each of her characters is fully developed and likable, and I found myself rooting for each one of them on this quirky little family road trip。 Teachers, this is a YA romance to recommend to your students without exposing them to content that is too mature or graphic。 A must read!

I received an eARC of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。 This book was a very quick, cute read。 It’s got childhood best friends reuniting and learning to navigate their new dynamic, complicated family conflicts, growing up and going to college, and discussion about women in traditionally male-dominated fields。I love a good road trip story so this book definitely ticked that box。 I enjoyed seeing how everyone interacted with each other and seeing how Norah and Skyler re I received an eARC of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。 This book was a very quick, cute read。 It’s got childhood best friends reuniting and learning to navigate their new dynamic, complicated family conflicts, growing up and going to college, and discussion about women in traditionally male-dominated fields。I love a good road trip story so this book definitely ticked that box。 I enjoyed seeing how everyone interacted with each other and seeing how Norah and Skyler relearned their relationship。 Norah’s dynamic with her brother was so cute and I really, really loved their own little storyline throughout the book。Norah was, to me, a bit of an average main character。 She wasn’t bad by any means but there wasn’t a whole lot about her that made her stand out from other protagonists in West’s books。 Skyler was similar- nothing bad about him but also nothing really notable。 There were a number of typical Kasie West-style moments of humor and shennagains that fit right into this road trip story。 These moments all helped to keep the book moving and led to come great conflicts in the plot。Despite these cutesy factors and some of the other more serious topics like growing up, illness, and workplace stereotypes/bias, I wasn't completely taken by the book。 I think I'm just getting to the point where I can't really relate to them as much as I once did。 I would still recommend her books, including this one, because they're great summer reads and do explore some really important topics in a way that feels relatable and authentic。 I just think I'm aging out of them but would absolutely recommend them to teen readers who can relate to the topics of leaving high school, friendship drama, and familial conflict more than I can at this point in my life。 。。。more

Another wonderful Kasie West book。 This was about a two family RV trip across the West and PNW。 And oh was it delightful! I have always thought traveling by RV would be amazing although I suspect in reality it’s not。 I loved the friends to lovers romance and the relationships in this book。 It felt very true to life。 I was provided an advanced copy of this book by the publisher which had not affected my review。

I mean, cmon, there was cancer (not a good thing, but still something new), lgbtq characters and。。。I don't know? AMAZINGNESS!! I promise you that this book is worth the read, I couldn't stop smiling! This book was addicting, inspiring, and I loved it so much!! Kasie is a saint and deserves the best because her books are literally so angelic and purely genius。 I don't know how to explain it, she’s just that good。 The thing I enjoyed the most about this book was the fact that it was a roadtrip romance。。。 Roadtrip books always make me want to have an epic roadtrip too。 The characters were also so good! Skylar was hot and Norah was insecure, aren't we all? There's a lesson to learn here and I think we can learn it from her。 Sometimes it's better to surround yourself with the people who love you rather than with people who you can't be your true self around。 I love how Kasie gave us the I have loved you forever but you didnt know and the friends-to-lovers trope。 I get that people think her books are cliche, but she just does cliche and romance so well。 Like how can you not love this big ball of fluffiness? Sorry, I dont even know where I'm going with this, but I hope Netgalley is somewhat satistified with my review 😂I have been a huge fan of Kasie's for so long, so it means a lot to me that Netgalley gave me this arc to read ❤️ Her books truly have helped me through the dark times and they are always the ones I go to when I need a good romance or to get out of a slump。 Kasie West is one of the authors I first learned to appreciate。 So thank you to the publisher, to Netgalley, and to Kasie because I truly feel honored and I truly wanted to cry when I saw this book on my Netgalley shelfSpeaking of crying。。。 DID anyone ever tell you that I hate epilogues because they make me emotional?? 😭😭 See, I'm getting emotional。 -Becca da ROMANCE (and don't you forget it 😉) Queen 😍Places don't have to be physical locations, they can be a person too。 Like home doesn't have to a place, it can be a person。 。。。more

I received a complimentary copy of this book。 Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own。 Thank you to Netgalley & Random House Children’s (Delacorte Press)!Time and distance has pulled apart Norah and Skyler’s friendship。 When their families plan a road trip together, Norah hopes to rebuild their relationship。 The two begin to feud when Skyler arrives and acts like he would rather keep his distance than rekindle anything。 Places We’ve Never Been is a sweet, angsty teenage romance。 I received a complimentary copy of this book。 Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own。 Thank you to Netgalley & Random House Children’s (Delacorte Press)!Time and distance has pulled apart Norah and Skyler’s friendship。 When their families plan a road trip together, Norah hopes to rebuild their relationship。 The two begin to feud when Skyler arrives and acts like he would rather keep his distance than rekindle anything。 Places We’ve Never Been is a sweet, angsty teenage romance。 Miscommunication and lack of communication plays the largest part of the story。 The characters are likable and relatable。 The plot starts out a little slow but it’s worth sticking with。 The second half of the book is much more fast paced。 This is the first book that I have read from author Kasie West but I look forward to reading more of her work in the future。 。。。more

Places We've Never Been was a nice, short, and sweet read perfect for those weekend getaways or when you want a quick read that will make your heart flutter。 Norah wants to work in the gaming industry and I liked that touch of introducing young girls to male-dominated fields and teaching them to take up space。 This is a childhood best friends to strangers to enemies to friends to lovers and I really did enjoy this trope and following along with Norah and Skyler's reunion after many years。 There Places We've Never Been was a nice, short, and sweet read perfect for those weekend getaways or when you want a quick read that will make your heart flutter。 Norah wants to work in the gaming industry and I liked that touch of introducing young girls to male-dominated fields and teaching them to take up space。 This is a childhood best friends to strangers to enemies to friends to lovers and I really did enjoy this trope and following along with Norah and Skyler's reunion after many years。 There were little side stories that helped build up the actual plot which helped give the other characters more spotlight as well which I enjoyed。 Overall I really liked this book, the characters, the chemistry, and the summer road trip atmosphere。 The only reason I rated the story a 4 out of 5 is because I did feel like the ending was rushed。 Besides Norah and Skyler's past and present coming together there was so much build up around other parts of Norah's life we didn't really get closure with that I think would've made the book more satisfying to complete。 。。。more

Honestly this book was a bit dry in the writing and uneventful lol it’s the plot。 Skyler and Norah felt a smidge borning and lack a connection with both each other and the reader。 There was such a disconnect while reading that at times I found myself getting distracted rather than engulfed with the story。 There wasn’t much substance to the story or even Norah to make this an enjoyable read for me。 I found myself trying to grasp at anything for this to be a feel-good romance I know this author is Honestly this book was a bit dry in the writing and uneventful lol it’s the plot。 Skyler and Norah felt a smidge borning and lack a connection with both each other and the reader。 There was such a disconnect while reading that at times I found myself getting distracted rather than engulfed with the story。 There wasn’t much substance to the story or even Norah to make this an enjoyable read for me。 I found myself trying to grasp at anything for this to be a feel-good romance I know this author is capable of。 I think overall, for me, this is a case where the cover and plot are promising, but the overall Execution fell flat。 I think maybe I’m just not the reader for this book。 Thank you to NetGalley and Delacorte Press for the opportunity to read this eARC 。。。more

Excellent teen themed novel with great characters, teen angst, and family relationships。 Skylar and Norah were best friends until he moved。 Given a chance to reunite when their moms plan a three week RV trip makes Norah so excited。 Skylar is indifferent to her which throws Norah into confusion。 The healing of their relationship is up in the air as they travel and try to get reacquainted。I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book。 All thoughts and opinions are my own。
